Become a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

WHAT'S INVOLVED?

 

The course is run over two days, usually a weekend. You will complete some dive theory, including 5 knowledge development sections, at your own pace at home with PADI’s online eLearning followed by five Adventure dives. Three of these are shore based and two are from a dive charter vessel. Under the supervision of a PADI Instructor you will gain new diving skills that allows you to build up your confidence and experience level.

 

The dives will be conducted around the Tasman Peninsula, home to some of the best dive sites in Tasmania. You will see a fair amount of soft corals typical for Tasmania's temperate water, an abundance of anenomes and butterfly perches, maybe even one of the many fur seals says hello.

COURSE PREREQUISITE

 

  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​PADI Open Water Diver certification or equivalent qualification from another training agency

​​

  • Minimum age is 12 years. Student divers between 12 and 14 earn the PADI Junior Advanced Diver certification (max depth 21 meters).​

On Saturday we will conduct three adventure dives including the following:

  • Peak Performance Buoyancy Dive

  • Underwater Navigation Dive

  • Night Dive

On Sunday, we will be going out on a boat and conduct the following two dives:

 

  • Boat Dive

  • Deep Dive

WHAT'S NEEDED?

 

  • Scuba equipment. Gear hire is available in store for a discounted rate if you do not have your own 

  • A personal dive computer

  • A dive torch

  • DSMB with reel (delayed surface marker buoy)

  • Own Transport - you will need to be able to transport your SCUBA equipment during the duration of the course

  • Medical statement

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

Don’t let the name mislead you. You don’t have to be advanced to do this course – it is designed to advance your diving skills and experience.

​

You can complete this course right after your Open Water Course, it is aimed at building confidence and further developing your dive skills through a number of Adventure dives.

 

Upon completion you will be certified to dive to a depth of 30 metres and will have mastered new dive skills.
